The metal and mineral company Boliden sprung from Centralgruppen's Emissionsbolag, founded in 1915. In 1924, they found gold at Bjurliden in Västerbotten - and there and then, Boliden was born. Today, the Bolidn group has mining and smelting operations at ten locations in Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Ireland.
The Boliden group is thus celebrating 100 years in 2024 - but each location has its own exciting and often longer (!) history. That was the starting point when Boliden in 2022 asked us to research and create an anniversary history. We held workshops with employees at all ten locations and researched the history of all plants. We worked closely with the event company Utsikt, which then managed all the 100-year celebrations at all locations.
The work resulted in four magazines that told the history of the company, its locations - but also the mining industry's history. The magazines exist in Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, and English and are now given to all employees during the centennial.
