Sällskapet för folkundervisningens befrämjande (SFUB; The Society for the Promotion of Public Education) has been working for more than 200 years to promote learning. In this new anthology, nine historical insights into the society's history are presented.
SFUBwas founded in 1822. Since then, its activities have included operating its own schools, training teachers, and supporting further education and study trips. SFUB's historical archive at the Nordic Museum contains material that tells everything from student attendance at schools to how the organization has worked to spread new knowledge concerning both pedagogy and other areas, such as agriculture.
In this anthology, commissioned by SFUB and produced by our publishing arm Business History Publishing, educational historians and educators have examined nine different areas related to SFUB's activities during the years 1822 – 1974. The editors of the book are Germund Larsson and Johanna Ringarp, both active researchers in educational history.
