The newly published book "Omvandlingar - Försäkringsbolaget Skandia 1990-2016" (loosely translated as "Transformations: The Insurance Company Skandia 1990–2016) by Mats Larsson and Mikael Lönnborg (Förlaget Näringslivshistoria 2019) was launched at Skandia's headquarters on Thursday, June 20.
No fewer than three current and former CEOs attended: Frans Lindelöw, Skandia's CEO and group manager since 2015, Hans-Erik Andersson, former CEO and today chairman of Skandia's board, and Leif Wictorin, also a former CEO. Wictorin and former chief legal counsel at Skandia Liv Lars Bergendal, who was also present at the lunch, had assisted the authors with background facts for the book. From the Centre for Business History came CEO Alexander Husebye, editor Karin Jansson Myhr, image editor Martin Månson, designer Åsa Kax Ideberg, and research director Anders Houltz.
Transformations: The Insurance Company Skandia 1990–2016 is a new book about the insurance company Skandia from Förlaget Näringslivshistoria. The focus of the book is on the more recent history, and the book portrays, among other things, how Skandia fell into foreign hands through a hostile takeover.
The book depicts how Skandia achieved tremendous success during the 1990s but also the so-called scandals at the beginning of the 2000s and how the company, through a hostile bid from the international insurance company Old Mutual, became a subsidiary in a foreign group. Finally, the story is also told about how Skandia returned to Swedish ownership and was transformed into a mutual insurance company.
