Research project on the Sources of Infrastructure

A new project at our research secretariat is "Sources of Infrastructure: Historical Archives as a Resource for Robust and Sustainable Transport Facilities."

This three-year research project aims to develop and analyze methods for making transport and infrastructure historical sources accessible, combining them, and using them, both within Trafikverket and within transport history research. The project also aims to create tools for harnessing and utilizing the accumulated knowledge and experience among Trafikverket's employees and among consultants.

The project is funded through Trafikverket's R&D funds and is carried out in collaboration between the Centrum för Näringslivshistoria (CfN) and Statens museer för marin-, transport- och försvarshistoria (SMMTF).

Anders Houltz is Associate Professor in the History of Science and Technology and Research Director at the Centre for Business History. His doctoral dissertation, published in 2003, deals with inter-war period industrial display politics in relation to the Gothenburg Jubilee Expo of 1923. His research ranges from business history and industrial heritage to museum display and representation.

Our research director Anders Houltz participated in 2025 in the seminar "Art Noveau in Sweden – curiosity and desire." Now an anthology, where he contributes a chapter on Jugend in industrial architecture, is being released.
