The new report from Centrum för Näringslivshistoria – Personal Address – about letters in business – provides historical insights into how large companies like ICA and Vin & Sprit were formed, how Blomsterfonden's elderly homes in Stockholm were created, and not least the practical conditions for correspondence – for example, how quickly did a letter arrive?
The articles give insight into people's interactions and motivations. Letters often provide a clearer picture of their senders' thoughts than neutrally kept protocols or refined memories in memoirs. We meet colorful personalities, such as Alma Hedin, the founder of Blomsterfonden, and Hakon Swenson, the founder of ICA. Not least, we are given a picture of Systembolaget's determined founder, Ivan Bratt.
The report, no. 6 in the series Näringslivshistoria, is the result of a research project at Centrum för Näringslivshistoria, funded by the Söderberg foundations. Editor: Hans De Geer, other contributors: Björn Edsta, Erik Hamberg, Anne-Marie Lenander Fällström, and Per-Olof Mattsson.
