Over the past 50 years, the Swedish financial landscape has changed completely. From being one of the world's most heavily regulated, governed by a few large banking spheres, to being seen as an international role model with many different types of owners. In Sweden, "vent cap" is now a common term and everyone is investing in stocks. But how did this happen? And what has driven the change?
In her new book, "”Finansdramat i folkhemmet – 50 år som förvandlade Sverige” (available in Swedish only), seasoned financial journalist Torun Nilsson covers this developement. She also examines, among other things, the concept of risk, which is at the core of the industry, and how the perception of risk has changed. She has also interviewed a large number of people who were involved during this period to give their views on the development.
