Records of enduring value 

Which documents and records are historically relevant and should be saved for the future?  Here you get a general overview with examples of documents of permanent value. Consider gathering them in a professional archive - for example with us at the Centre for Business History.

  • Minutes of meetings with attachments (general meeting, board, committee)
  • Company documents (deeds, registration documents, bylaws)
    Governing documents and policies (visions, business plans, quality plan, environmental plan, etc.)
  • Information and marketing materials (circulars, annual reports, own customer and staff magazines, printed matter, campaign materials, sales brochures and posters, branding issues, self-published books)
  • Correspondence (incoming and outgoing letters from CEO, chairman, and senior executives)
  • Accounts (annual reports, year-end accounts)
  • Statistics (compilations of relevant statistics)
  • Reports (projects, investigations)
  • History and anniversary documents (anniversary celebrations, documents collected after some form of history project)
  • Documents relating to the annual general meeting (annual collected details about the meeting)
  • Legal documents (contracts and agreements relating to cooperation, etc.)
  • Project documents of major interest (project description and final report)
  • Press clippings and other media coverage (newspaper clippings, media reports and similar compilations)
  • Photographs (photographs of staff, meetings, events, premises, products, etc.)
  • Films (company presentation films and commercials)
    Objects (products or other objects related to the own company)
