Author Johan Jakobsson talks with Centrum för Näringslivshistoria's communications manager Anders Sjöman about the book "Görings vittne – Vitvarudirektören Birger Dahlerus försök att stoppa andra världskriget" (Förlaget Näringslivshistoria, 2023) on Axess TV.
During a few dramatic weeks in August 1939, the Swedish businessman Birger Dahlerus flew shuttle flights between Stockholm, Berlin, and London. The self-appointed mission: to try to stop World War II. After all, he knew Hermann Göring well. When peace came six years later, Dahlerus published a book in which he gave his version of his actions before the outbreak of the war. Then, in 1946, he was called to Nuremberg — as a defense witness for Göring.
Johan Jakobsson has worked for 30 years at the intersection of politics and business. In the 2000s he was a party secretary, in the 2010s he founded a public affairs agency, and in the early 2020s he was head of communication and public affairs at the organization Svenskt Näringsliv. In 2022, the government appointed him as state secretary to Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. "Görings vittne" is his first book and is based on over 20 years of private research. The moderator is Anders Sjöman.
